Reluctance Toward Vaccination Against the COVID-19 Pandemic in Algeria

This book examines vaccine reluctance toward COVID-19 vaccination in Algeria through a combination of scientific background and field research. It first presents general information about coronaviruses, SARS-CoV-2, modes of transmission, clinical symptoms, diagnostic methods, and the main technologies used in COVID-19 vaccines.

The book then focuses on vaccination, explaining vaccine composition, vaccine platforms, immunity development, efficacy, and possible adverse effects. The final part presents an online survey conducted to analyze Algerians’ attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccination and the factors influencing refusal or hesitation.

The study shows that vaccine hesitancy is linked to several factors, including fear of side effects, doubts about vaccine safety and efficacy, lack of trust in official information, and the spread of misinformation. The book concludes that addressing vaccine reluctance requires clear scientific communication, stronger public trust in health institutions, and targeted awareness campaigns adapted to different social groups.
